Research topics

By high-voltage electron microscopy, it is possible to observe the thicker specimens like cells. Thus, it can be used for structural analysis of biomolecules and their complexes in cells. In addition, high-resolution structural analysis become possible by electron cryo-microscopy. By using these techniques, we obtain both high-resolution structures of biomolecules and their conformational changes and localization in cells to understand fundamental biology and also for the bioengineering, agricultural, and medical applications.
Current research programs are as follows.

(1) Structural analysis of biomolecules and their complexes in cells
(2) High-resolution structural analysis of biomolecules and their complexes
